With nearly 40 states in the USA legalizing wagers, people remain worried about the latest Missouri sports betting news. While some loops have been jumped through by lawmakers and officials, that doesn’t mean that things are going to be locked in by the end of the year. The worry here is that people in the state may have to wait until 2025 or beyond. With that said, Missouri sports betting remains up in the air for later this year.
According to a report, a new sports betting bill was able to pass through the state House. However, this is nothing new, as we’ve seen bills get approved at this stage in previous efforts to get things across the line. It’s unknown, though, if things will go on to have the same result in the state Senate. If that doesn’t happen, then this latest push will be all for nothing and sports fans across the board will be left heartbroken.
The hope is that this won’t be the case this year, as people are hopeful that they’ll be able to vote in favor of things if it makes its way onto the next ballot. Plenty of studies have been done on whether or not proponents would be in favor of legal sports betting. Polls in recent months have suggested that people in Missouri would be all for legal sports betting. Despite that fact, nothing has been able to get finalized for this project.
Soon enough, the hope is that the push can keep moving forward through the Senate. Luckily for people who want legal sports betting, it appears there are more people in favor of wagers than those opposed to it. It’s not going to be easy, but there’s a sense of optimism for things to get done down the road. It will be interesting to see how things shape out here, but you never know, history could be made for Missouri in the coming months.
Missouri fans were furious they missed out on Chiefs Super Bowl bets again
It goes without saying, but Missouri fans were furious they missed out on Chiefs Super Bowl bets again. For the second year in a row, Kansas City was able to capture the Lombardi Trophy – it’s also the third Super Bowl ring for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. This team is already focused on a three-peat for next season. With that said, will people in Missouri be able to bet on the big game at this point next year?
That remains to be seen, but there’s hope that the laws will be changed in time. Despite that people indeed are not happy that they couldn’t place legal bets on the game this year. The Chiefs were able to come out on top in overtime, stunning the San Francisco 49ers. KC was down 10 points at one point, but Mahomes and the offense were able to make the plays late to come away with a thrilling victory.
“With all the adversity we’ve been through this season to come through tonight. … I’m proud of the guys,” said Mahomes right after the Super Bowl win over SF. “This is awesome. Legendary. I am going to celebrate tonight, celebrate at the parade and then work my way to get back in this game next year. I am going to do whatever I can to be back in this game next year. Three-peat.”
Plenty of illegal wagers in Missouri were placed on the Super Bowl, which authorities want to get cleaned up as soon as possible. However, this is going to be a growing issue until the laws are in fact changed. The Chiefs are building a dynasty and it’s not fair that people either have to place illegal wagers or go outside of the state to bet on the squad. We’ll have to wait and see if this is no longer the case next winter, but no one knows what’s going to happen.
Pro teams continue to be in favor of legal sports betting
One thing that could help Missouri as a whole is that pro teams continue to be in favor of legal sports betting. In particular, the owners of the St. Louis Cardinals have been quite outspoken about their desire to get things across the board – the same can be said for the Chiefs, Blues and others. With so many people on board there, pressure is being put on politicians to try and make things right. The betting potential for the state would be sky-high, which adds to the intrigue of the project.
For the Cardinals, there’s no question that MLB betting would be electric for the state. St. Louis has plenty of World Series glory to its name and they have strong MLB betting odds to win the NL Central this year thanks to the young and veteran talent on the roster. While betting isn’t expected to get done in time for this upcoming season, fans are crossing their fingers that this will be the last campaign where legal wagers on Major League Baseball games won’t be on the table.
